Wrightson Defense will now offer CCDW courses. I spent 16 hours studying the rules and regulations related to obtaining and instructing CCDW permit. This led to the defining question...Why get your permit?
The most common answer is for self defense. While that is true, it really goes beyond that. You could consider the following reasons:
Protect Yourself & Family
Protect Property
Prepared to use deadly force as an option
Piece of Mind –your more comfortable
Element of surprise
Keeps complaints down
Police Officers are to heavy to carry (Average response time to 911 is 4 min.)
You never know when trouble will show up. Having a CCDW and carrying a firearm can make you more situationally aware of your surroundings.
Having gone thru the basic CCDE course and the Instructor course, it primarily is focused on the laws and process of obtaining the permit. It is not marksmanship training or close combat training. There is not any training on how to draw your weapon or self defense techniques. This will fall to you the student to spend time at the range learning your weapon and practicing your carry techniques.
